Understanding the divine principle for heavenly living

Heavenly life operates on this divine principle: Everything God does starts from heaven and manifests on earth. For example, when we look to the Lord for healing or for provision, He supplies them to you from heaven. So don’t depend on the earth or earthly means for your supply. Since everything begins in heaven, make sure you look to the Father in heaven, and you will receive His heavenly portion for you, be it healing, provision, wisdom, or anything you need. We see this principle revealed right from the very first verse of the Bible:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
—Genesis 1:1 NKJV

Notice how God created the heavens first, then the Earth? So every good thing we need in this life flows first from heaven’s supply before we receive it here on earth. Our Lord Jesus Himself lived by this principle. When He fed the multitudes, He first looked up to heaven before multiplying the loaves and fish. That simple act revealed to us His source.

The same applies to us today, and our connection to the source, to our Father in heaven, is the Bible. Through His Word, we learn what the Father has promised us and what supplies we have in His heavenly storehouse. So when you meditate on Scripture, you’re not just reading words, you’re reaching out to and receiving from the realm of heaven.

“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”
—Genesis 1:2–3 NKJV

At creation, God spoke His Word into the formless void, and light broke forth. In the same way, when you meditate on His promises and speak His Word into your situation, His light enters that challenge you’re facing or that dark place you find yourself in.

And as you spend time in God’s Word, you will be reminded that the Lord is never distant. Just as the verses above tell us that His Spirit hovered over the waters, His Spirit now hovers over your life—ready to bring light, order, and renewal. The Hebrew word for “hovering” here is used again in Deuteronomy 32:11 below and paints the picture of an eagle brooding over her young:

“As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings.”

That is what the Holy Spirit does for you. Even when life feels still or uncertain, your heavenly Father is near, hovering over you, warming your heart with love, covering you with His presence, and brooding miracles to help you take flight.

Every blessing we desire is found in Christ

When we live conscious of this principle, that heaven’s supply is our reality, we will begin to see God’s blessings flow into our daily lives. Psalm 91:1 confirms this beautiful truth:

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

To dwell in the secret place is to live aware that you are in Christ—safe, covered, and constantly near to God. And, the “shadow of the Almighty” isn’t found in heaven, where there is no darkness, but here on earth. It is heaven’s covering resting over you as you go about your day. When you remain mindful of this place of closeness, every promise of Psalm 91 becomes real, whether it is protection from danger (v. 10–11), peace in trouble (v. 5–6), deliverance from harm (v. 3–4), or long life filled with satisfaction (v. 16). All these blessings of protection and deliverance flow when you live conscious that you are, right now, in the secret place, under the shadow of the Almighty.

In Deuteronomy 28:1–2, we see that the Israelites were promised that if they obeyed perfectly, the Lord would set them “high above all the nations of the earth,” and “all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you.” The blessings listed touched every area of life—fruitfulness in the family (v. 4), abundance in work (v. 5), victory over enemies (v. 7), and favor both in the city and in the field (v. 3). These were tangible expressions of heaven’s supply upon the earth.

In these verses, we also see another of God’s patterns, that of position before possession. Under the old covenant, that position depended on man’s obedience. Under the new, Jesus has obeyed all the commandments perfectly on our behalf, and His righteousness has been credited to us. Today, we are seated with Him in the heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), and the Israelites’ dream is our reality. Because we are in Christ, blessings are no longer rewards we need to earn, but an inheritance we can freely receive.

Every good thing you desire—peace, protection, favor, and fruitfulness—is already yours in Christ. Stay conscious of your position in Christ—you are already righteous in Christ and seated with Him at the Father’s right hand—and heaven’s supply will naturally overflow into your work, your relationships, and your home.

Be conscious of the Father’s love

Knowing your position in Christ is secure, then the way you are to live the heavenly life is not through striving but through resting in your heavenly Father’s love. When you are conscious of the Father’s love for you, you will begin to live with a heavenly attitude—secure, fearless, and full of peace.

John 1:18 reveals this beautifully:

“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”

It’s interesting to note that “who is in the bosom of the Father” is written in the present tense. So even while Jesus walked on earth, He remained in the Father’s embrace. That was our Lord’s secret—He lived every moment aware that He was loved by His Father. Out of that love flowed His confidence, His peace, and His power.

Likewise, you are to draw near to God not by your effort or any qualification, but through awareness. The Father already loves you deeply, and when you know this and are established in it, distance disappears, fear fades, worship becomes natural, and you begin to live in the warmth of heaven’s atmosphere.

First John 4:18 says, “Perfect love casts out fear.” The more you know God loves you, the less you will be moved by worry or intimidation. His love is the heartbeat of heaven, and when you live in that love, heaven fills your heart here on earth.

David, whose name means “beloved,” understood this. While others focused on Goliath’s size, David kept his eyes on God’s love and faithfulness. In the same way, the confidence to face the giants in your life comes from knowing you are loved. When you remember that you are the Father’s beloved, you will be able to stand strong, secure, bold, and unafraid against every challenge.

Being conscious of His love will also transform your relationships. When your heart is full of His affection, you can’t help but respond with grace instead of reacting out of insecurity or anger. Love makes you patient, kind, and generous. It transforms homes, marriages, and friendships because heaven’s heartbeat thrums in you.

Live from your heavenly position in Christ

The more you are aware of your Father’s love for you, the more you will take your rightful place in Christ, and the more aware you will be that you are already living in the heavenlies. John 3:13 says this:

“No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.”

Even while walking on earth, Jesus declared that He was in heaven. Though surrounded by need and pressure, His heart was always anchored in the Father’s love and presence. He demonstrated for us what it meant to live in heaven’s reality, not earth’s demands.

You can do the same, because the moment you received Christ, you were placed in Him. Ephesians 2:6 says God “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” You are already seated in Him—loved, accepted, and secure.

Furthermore, Ephesians 1:3 says,

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

This means that every spiritual blessing in heaven—peace, wisdom, favor, health, provision—has already been given to you in Christ. As you stay conscious of your heavenly position, these blessings will begin to manifest in your life.

Ephesians 1 goes on to say that you are “accepted in the Beloved” (v. 6). That word “accepted” is also translated as “highly favored” in Luke 1:28 when the angel addressed Mary as “highly favored one.” That means you are not only accepted in Christ but also highly favored in Him! The Father looks at you the same way He looks at Jesus—completely loved, completely righteous, and completely His.

When you live from this position, you stop striving for acceptance and start resting in the Lord’s divine favor. You pray not as someone far from God, but as one seated beside Him, looking down at your challenges from above.

Colossians 3:1–2 says,

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above… Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”

When you live conscious of your position in Christ, your mindset will shift. You will begin to see your situations from God’s perspective. You will rise above irritation, fear, and striving. You will walk in grace and calm, carrying the fragrance of heaven into every aspect of your life.

As God’s beloved children, we have a heavenly portion prepared for us to experience in the here and now. The more we stay conscious of the Father’s love and of our place in Christ, the more heaven’s reality is revealed to us, and we will get to live the heavenly life right here on earth.

We hope these sermon notes blessed you! If they did, we encourage you to get the sermon and allow the Lord to speak to you personally as you watch or listen to it.
